A product link is the fastest way to request an item from Japan, but it is not the only starting point. A clear photo, screenshot, package detail, partial Japanese name, release notice, or shop reference can be enough to begin a focused search for an eligible item.
Start with the clearest original reference
Send the original image or screenshot where possible. Cropped, re-saved, or heavily compressed images can remove the details that distinguish one item from another. If the item appeared in a social post, preserve the post URL, account name, date, and any visible caption as well as the image.
Details that make an image search more accurate
- Any visible product name, logo-free package detail, model code, label, or colour
- The item category: for example, toy, card, figure, clothing, homeware, or vintage part
- The shop, city, event, date, or release period you remember
- Whether you need the exact item or a close alternative
- Your destination country and deadline
How to avoid a false match
Similar-looking Japanese products can differ by size, edition, year, maker, condition, or bundle contents. Before you approve a purchase, compare the product image, stated size, model or card number, condition notes, and seller description with your reference. For second-hand and collectible items, an image alone may not show hidden damage, authenticity, or completeness.
When a screenshot is especially useful
A screenshot can preserve a Japanese-only checkout page, a temporary product page, a lottery notice, or a social-media post that is hard to find again. Include the full screen when possible, including the browser address area or the surrounding account information, rather than only the product image.
Set realistic expectations
